Every winter we host what is probably our most popular event in the entire calendar year. A slight change of pace from our usual events with a tough of elegance thrown in. The Brighton & Sussex Winterball has fast become ours and your favourite event with tickets selling out up to 8 weeks in advance and it's easy to see why.
An event like no other.
To put it simply there is no other event quite like The Winterball. A black tie event giving students of Brighton & Sussex a rare opportunity to dress to impress and enjoy a whole evening of surprises, magic & festivities. Hosted on Brighton's seafront, at the Hilton Brighton Metropole hotel which offers charming Victorian elegance alongside modern convenience perfectly encompassing exactly what this event is all about.
The experience.
Guests are greeted on arrival with a champagne reception provided in a room with subtle hints of our pianist playing classical festive music.
The Winter Wonderland begins as you wander down the snowflake & tree lined corridor and through the doors into the event space and prepare your pose for a snap from our professional photographer in front of our Instagram friendly backdrop walls. The decor and backdrops change every year but the jaw-dropping awe inspiring nature the rooms aesthetics create never does! Be aware of our resident magician who is on hand ready to woo you at the drop of a hat.
Next you'll be introduced to our first location- a room transformed into a Winter Wonderland for you to immerse yourselves in for a night of Christmassy wonders. Here you will encounter our fairground zone including full sized dodgems inside the hotel. Each fairground stall is free to play with prizes for the sweethearts who manage to beat the house and win their dates affection. There is also a casino section with a croupier, play with fake money and win real money and prizes - goes down a storm every time as the competitive levels increase as the top prize draws ever closer.
Finally, you move on to the largest and grandest suite in the whole hotel, the Oxford Suite. Here – your night truly starts. Whilst soaking in the electric atmosphere, incredible décor and majestic crowd you will enter into a Winter Fairytale with one of the most iconic UK live bands Oomphf keeping the party swinging all night long.
Be amazed at the wonder of the fully decorated venue, or perhaps the multiple instagram photo zones including The Chapel (including a priest, wedding rings and marriage papers if you want to experience getting married without actually getting married) or The Winter Fairy Light zone which creates breathtaking shots. Complementary Festive Fairground Food carts including popcorn, pic n mix, ice cream and a surprise every year. For the hungry ones enjoy
Festive Street Food available for purchase at a discounted rate or enjoy a glass of prosecco or champagne at the bubbles bar.
Every year 2000 tickets get snapped up faster than we can sell them. It takes months of meticulous planning but The Winterball is always our highest rated event.

To students of Brighton & Sussex university The Winterball is unmissable. During your whole university experience there just isn't anything that comes close to replicating the thrill, wonder and outright fun created at The Winerball. The atmosphere and vibe is impossible to recreate in another environment as 2000 of us partying in unison to our hearts content, enjoying the spectacle knowing tickets were only £20 is simply unrivalled.
